For those wanting to buy the latest iPhone, there comes the question which one shall I buy? While there is no definitive answer Beshtech has come up with a list of Similarities and discussion to help you decide which iPhone is worth investing into.

First lets start off with the similarities of the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro

  1. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro both feature the A14 Bionic chip
  2. They are both identical in size, featuring a 6.1″ display you can barely tell the difference between the two models until you see the back
  3. They share the same iPhone case, Apple even goes as far to sell the case compatible for both models.
  4. Both iPhones have 5G compatiability with the 5G antenna located in the same spot
  5. Gorilla Glass used for both displays in addition to a ceramic shield for a more durable design.
  6. Both iPhones feature the 6.1 inch Super Retina XDR OLED display.
  7. The speaker and microphones on both devices are places identically.
  8. Both iPhone share HDR, True Tone, P3 Wide
  9. Both forward facing cameras are exactly the same consisting
  10. Batteries on both devices are both identical at 2815mAh with a general use of about 7 hours from each device
  11. MAGsafe charger with capabilities of fast charging at 15 Watts, chargers sold seperately
  12. A water Proof rating of IP68 for both devices features a depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes.

Now lets get into the differences so we can make our mind up!

  1. One of the greatest differences already is the price point, as of today the iPhone 12 starts from $1,349 for the 64GB model based on the Apple’s website.
  2. The iPhone 12 Pro starts at $1,699 for the 128GB model however there are no options to purchase less storage capacity, this price is based on Apple’s website.
  3. iPhone 12 has a bigger variety of color to choose from, including green, blue, black, white and blue as apposed to the generic colors scheme available for the Pro of Gold, graphite, blue and silver.
  4. 12 consists of a aluminium bezel shell coming in lighter at a total of 134 grams whereas the pro consists of a polished stainless steel bezel coming in heavier at a total of 189 grams.
  5. Rear glass for both are different with the 12 consisting of a glossy glass back with a matte camera indent whereas the Pro consists of the opposite, a matte glass backing and a glossy camera indent. It is worth noting that the 12 is prone to fingerprint marks whereas the Pro is very subtle

The Bottom Line

Both iPhones are very well engineered pieces of equipment and someone would be happy with either one, but it all comes down to your needs. If you are say a videographer or you do like to take a allot of photos I personally would choose the Pro over the 12, but if you are just using it for the speed then essentially they are both the same. It is worth noting that the price difference isn’t huge when we choose the same storage capacity as seen below:
